The Renters Reform Bill was first introduced by the now-ousted Conservative Government and aimed to improve the rental housing market by abolishing a landlords right to serve a no fault eviction notice, known as a section 21 notice.

The new Labour government has confirmed during the King’s Speech that it will introduce a new version of The Renters Reform Bill to ‘give greater rights and protections to people renting their homes, including ending no fault evictions and reforming grounds for possession.’

Before the General Election, Labour had promised to bring an ‘immediate’ end to S21 notices, although there is not yet any idea of when The Renters Reform Bill will be introduced.

As it stands, S21 ‘no-fault’ notices can continue to be issued by landlords and enforced by the Civil Courts in England. We will issue an update as soon as any updates become available.
